Sometimes people express their concern about us traveling into Mexico, so to set their minds at ease for once and for all, here are some scriptures on which we stand and are grateful for others to stand on, as well, in prayer for us:

Psalm 121: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 91: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;  Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.  Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.  With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

Either we can trust God, or all we do is in vain.  His Word is true, and His power is greater than any power in the world.  Over and over the Word tells us to “fear not.”  God is faithful!

It has been a good month.  There have been opportunities for others in the churches in Mexico to fill in the gaps and function in the activities that we normally would do.  At the beginning of the month we stayed in the US to help with the school’s harvest fest, so Dante led the leadership meeting in Victoria, while Pepe and Carlos led the Sunday service.

In Rio Bravo, we heard of the testimony of Doña María.  She tried to share Christ with a lady owner of a small store, but the lady said under no uncertain terms that she did not want to hear it.  Later, Doña María had to return to buy milk, and she wasn’t looking forward to facing the lady again.  This time, there was a man at the front of the store who was down due to illnesses and other problems.  She ministered to him and led him to the Lord.  Then the owner, after over-hearing the conversation, asked when the church services were.  Seed was sown.

The church in Victoria held their first young adults conference (entitled “Better than Ever”) this month.  It was a great success.  Somewhere between 150-180 people were in attendance.  Ministering from the US in music were Bobby, Willy, and Joshua.  Willy also preached.  The young adults from Victoria organized everything and also participated in ministering in every area.  We were also pleased by the participation of the praise and worship team from the village of Voz and the attendance of several from the village.  At the conclusion, about forty people went forward for prayer and to make decisions.  At least five were saved.  The following were some of the blessings and testimonies as a result:

-Though there were several people involved in the planning of the event, it went without conflict.
-A room at the hotel Hampton was provided for free of charge for the guys from the US.
-The guys from the US were astonished by the fervor and power of the Spirit felt as the organizers of the event got together to pray just before the event.  Even some from within the group later told us that the air was electrified.
-On his way to a certain business to ask to borrow equipment from a friend of a friend whom he’d never met, Dante was cut off in the parking lot.  He wanted to show the driver of a sign of his frustration, but the Lord told him to be still, so he did.Turns out, the one who cut him off was the one to lend the stuff. He had favor and was able to obtain what he needed.
-A friend of Dante filmed the event free of charge to record on DVD.  At first, he said he could only stay till 7:30 because he had a wedding to go to, but 7:30 came and went, and he remained.  He had been resistant to Dante’s message of salvation until that evening.  He submitted to prayer, and his girlfriend, Karla Mendiola, on her own went forward to receive Christ.  After the event, he enthusiastically thanked Dante for the experience in a text message.
-The weather was PERFECT, despite the threat of a storm earlier that day.
-The next day at the Sunday service, there for the first time were several people who’d attended the conference.
- This was the first Christian event that Randú had ever attended.  He was one of the organizers and worked very hard.  He said four months ago he would not have done it, and testified that he is “very full” because of all he received.
-A young man named Ruben was healed at the conference and slain in the Spirit.  He began attending the GDA (Grupo de Alcance, “Outreach Group”) right away.
- A friend of Dante’s didn’t attend, but a girl who did told him excitedly about it and told him he missed something great.  He expressed that he wanted to go to the next event.  Dante invited him to the GDA and to church.  This testimony of hearing about the event from others was repeated over and over.

More testimonies of God’s works during the conference are sure to follow.
During the service the next day in Victoria, we were visited by Memo and his wife Perla who now live in Laredo in an especially dangerous part of town.  They give God all the glory for His protection.   Things have happened all around them, but it hasn’t touched them or their business.  Memo also testified of how God has completely changed him and given him stability.  It is so true!  Before, he was very mentally and emotionally tormented.  But God delivered him as he was ministered to and prayed for through this ministry.

Phillippe, the Frenchman, also testified of the power of the Word and of the Body of Christ that has helped him fight during some very hard times.  He had told Salomon of his problems, and Salomon told him he’d go to his house to pray with him.  Immediately, he understood the power of unity among the brothers and could instantly feel relief.  As he spoke, we could see the giftings in him that we expect will be used for the Kingdom when the time is right.

At the leadership meeting the following week at the cottage, Vicente told us of a man they’d prayed for  who had problems caused by and accident and for his wife who had convulsions at the service.  Both have recovered.  Vicente has also observed that the youth in Mante now participate in the services and are bringing girlfriends to the service.  Attendance is growing there, and the youth are now practicing musical instruments in order to form a P & W team.

That same day, Jose and Jeanette went to Xicotencatl to baptize a lady from Mante.  We were pleased that she was accompanied by her husband and children, along with several from the congregation in Mante.

Araceli and her husband Beto expressed the strong pressure they are under to have a full-time pastor.  An apostolic relative who graduated from seminary has offered to step in.  We discouraged them from the very idea for a number of obvious reasons.

Carlos and Vivi were also at the baptism and decided to spend the night at the cottage to avoid driving at night all the way to Victoria.  We enjoyed the time of fellowship with them.

Last week, we were asked to pray for  Francisco Javier who was in critical condition in the hospital with a heart problem.  We prayed at church, and he was released the next day.  He attended church the next Sunday.  And slowly but surely, he and his sisters are bringing in more and more family members because of what God is doing in their lives.

The month ended just as it began:  the young adults conducted the service in Victoria in our absence as we chose to stay in the US for the Thanks Giving holiday.  The service went well, and we enjoyed attending the service at World Harvest where Pastor Andrew from Myanmar (Burma) was the guest speaker.  We look forward to involving the churches in Mexico in his ministry.

As we enter the season of celebrating Christ’s birth, may you all be blessed abundantly and enjoy His presence in all you do.

Merry Christmas!      José, Jeanette, Joshua, and the Missions Team
